Title – Why we need to unite in the food waste fight.
Synopsis– It is estimated that one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year (approximately 1.3 billion tonnes) gets lost or wasted. If food wastage were a country, it would be the third largest emitting country in the world. The time for action is now, and all of us need to unite in the food waste fight to deliver a resilient food system that’s fit for the future. In this presentation, Michael Jones from WRAP will provide an overview of the opportunities and impact of tackling food and drink waste across the food system using a voluntary agreement model, and how this can be replicated to deliver against the UN’s sustainability goals. Michael will also outline the latest insights and good practice from the Courtauld Commitment 2025, the ambitious UK voluntary agreement that’s making food and drink production and consumption more sustainable.
